Nick Gold - Industry Specialist Spotlight, Interviewed by Amy Rowlinson
Speak More
The UK speaker bureaux industry is responsible for booking c. £500 million worth of speaking talent every year. Both up and coming and established speakers are eager to get on a bureaux roster to elevate their speaking career. However too often speakers find it challenging to cut through the noise and struggle to understand how the bureaux industry works, the nuances of each agency and ultimately what it takes to engage bookers, so they are being proactively recommended to their clients.
Nick Gold has worked in the speaking industry for more than twenty years. He is the Co-Founder of one of the biggest bureaux in Europe, Speakers Corner as well as the speaker management company, Speaking Office and the first ever programme looking at the business of speaking, Future Voices. Nick was the first and currently only ever, UK President of the International Association of Speaker Bureaus and is the author of the Penguin Business Expert Series, Speaking with Confidence.
In this session, Nick will answer your questions and will attempt to unveil and lift the curtain behind the bureaux marketplace, debunk the myths about speaker bureaus and will cover how we can strengthen the relationship between bureaus and speakers.

Penny Haslam - Smart Energy: The Savvy Speaker’s Guide to Powering a Brilliant Business
SPEAKING BUSINESS
Working in the speaking business is a wonderful career choice. We also know it to be a challenging, disheartening, scary, exposing and uncertain option, don’t we?
The responsibility of being employer and employee, master and servant, director and performer can rest heavy on our shoulders. It’s no wonder that getting tangled up in decisions about what to speak about (that’s saleable), for whom, and for how much, is commonplace for speakers, no matter their business model.
In this funny and inspirational keynote, Penny Haslam distils her decade long experience as a full-time professional speaker, coach and trainer.
She shares what’s held her back and what’s powered her forward, so you can:
- Stop reinventing the wheel – align what you love with what’s lucrative.
- Understand your market so deeply that you become the obvious choice.
- Expect greatness every time, when you’re working – on stage and in the office.
Smart Energy: The Savvy Speaker’s Guide to Powering a Brilliant Business will set you up for a career in speaking with more edge, more speed and more impact.
